You sat staring at your laptop all day, got a lot of work done and now you are feeling drained. After staring at a screen all day my eyes feel strained and I need to decide how to unwind my wired brain.
Or maybe it is time to stop working and your mind is still buzzing with thoughts and ideas for your blog or business. Sometimes my mind refuses to shut off making it really hard to go to sleep once bedtime rolls around.
Our work is important but our mental health is too so here are some ways to unwind after a long day!
Write Your Thoughts out in a Journal
When you have thoughts flying around in your head, you should try getting them out on paper. It helps to do something that does not involve a screen and makes me feel secure knowing that I won’t forget any of them.
Journaling about your day, in general, is also a good way to reflect and check-in with yourself. I have found that writing in pretty journals keeps me more motivated to stick to my journaling routine! It just is not the same when I try writing in a plain notebook.
Exercise
It is so important to schedule in some physical activity everyday.
Exercise not only good for your health but also relieves stress and will have you looking all sexy! Lol
I usually hop on Youtube and find a workout based on my mood. If I am feeling frustrated for instance I’ll do a boxing workout and punch the crap out of my invisible punching bag. If I am feeling mellow, I may do a pilates workout.
A long day of work is definitely tiring but I promise you if you push through and do a quick workout, you’ll feel more refreshed afterward.
Relax with a Cup of Tea and a Book
Get your favorite cup of tea, a good book and cozy up on the couch for some quiet time. I drink tea twice a day and consider it my lifeline drink. Lol some people need water to function but I need my tea! If you’re not into tea, try wine or juice but definitely no coffee!
If you are a reader, you know that a good book can take you to another world. Instead of obsessing over your hectic life, take some time and fall into a good story.
Throw on some fuzzy socks, grab a blanket and you are all set for a cozy read!
Get off your Phone and Laptop
My devices and I have an unhealthy relationship. I use them all the time from the moment I wake up to when I go to bed. Knowing this, I try to stay off my laptop and phone for at least 30 mins once I am finished working for the day.
A “no screen” time will allow you to have a quick mental break and also give your eyes a break.
Laugh!
Put on your favorite sitcom, watch some funny videos on Youtube or tickle yourself. I don’t care how you do it. The important thing is that you laugh! Watching TV or a movie will distract you from work-related thoughts.
It has been said that laughter is the best medicine and releases endorphins that relieve stress. So get to it and start laughing. Here is one of my favorite comedy sketches…DO YOU WANNA GO TO WAR?
Go Outside
On days when you are feeling overwhelmed, just getting outside and breathing fresh air can help. Take a walk, play with your dog or just sit out in your front yard and enjoy your surroundings.
Focus your mind on your surroundings and live in the moment instead of worrying about your responsibilities
Feel Yourself (Literally!)
Orgasms are a great way to relieve stress and release a wave of good endorphins. You can have some solo time or enlist someone to help you! Lol, either way, turn off your brain, focus on the sensation and feel good!
Tidy Up
Tidying up your space can make you feel better about your surroundings. Personally, I know the feeling of satisfaction you get when you look around and see a clean, organized. Less clutter also reduces stress!
Breathe

Taking deep breaths when you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed can help relax you.
You are alive. You are in control. You are putting too much pressure on yourself. Acknowledge that and brreeeaathhheee. Deep breathing always seems to help me ground myself when I am getting anxious.
When you are stressed, take a deep breath in and then slowly blow it out through your mouth.
Hopefully, these tips will help you unwind, de-stress and allow you to enjoy your evening after work. Busy days as a successful business owner are inevitable but always remember to take care of yourself too!
Keep breathin’,
Kay ????
